Change is part of life.  The Women’s Tennis Team has gone through much change in the recent years and many challenges.  For the third straight season, the Tigers have a different head coach.  Steve Lindquist is the latest person to fill that role.  Also new this season is that the matches would consist of seven contests, three doubles and four singles matches.

South opened the season against Edison, the defending conference champion.  The way the Tommies played, they were ready to defend their title.  South lost 6-1. South next took on Roosevelt.  The Teddies also easily won 5-2.

Then next match, against Henry, was unique.  Both teams won three matches.  However, neither team

had a player for the fourth match and the event was declared a tie!

The remainder of the season was disappointing for the Tigers.  A 7-0 loss to Washburn started a streak of bad matches.  The closest of the matches was against North.  The Tigers fell 4-3. Southwest then beat the Tigers 7-0.  Central won 6-1.  Mercifully, the conference season ended with a 7-0 loss to West.

When it came time for individual regions, six players, two singles and two doubles team.  Karla Anderson pulled off an upset in the first round winning her match before being eliminated in the second round.

South finished the season with a 0-7-1 record, in last place in the conference.
