As the Summer turned to Fall, Coach Warren Kaari wondered what type of team he would have.  He received his answer quickly after practice started.  The team would be very young, four freshmen, two sophomores, three juniors and only one senior.

The youth showed up very quickly.  South and Southwest clashed in the first meet of the season and the Tigers were no match for Southwest, losing 15-50.

Things did not get much better, as the Tigers fell to North 19-38.  That was followed by a 20-35 loss to Central and a 15-50 loss to Henry.  The closest meet of the season was against West, but again, the Tigers lost 24-32.

Edison beat the Tigers 22-35.  In a non-conference match-up, St. Paul Harding also won, 20-40.  Roosevelt won 17-46.  The regular season mercifully came to a close with a second loss to West, 15-50.

South did provide a mild upset at the Conference Meet when the Tigers did NOT finish in last place.  South edged West, the team that defeated them twice during the regular season to finish eighth. Duane Clark placed 30th to lead the Tiger runners in a time of 18:36 for the 4800 meters.

At the Region 5AA Meet, the Tigers finished 14th, with only Fridley Grace behind them.  Robbie Paavola was the Tiger runner who finished the highest.
