The South Tennis squad looked forward to an improved season.  When the team started practice, the weather was warm, but as the season went on during the fall, the brisk temperatures took over.

The first match of the season was against Roosevelt.  The Teddies thrashed the Tigers 5-0.  This was followed by a match with West.  Against the Tigers were soundly defeated 4-1.

Matches against Henry and Central followed.  Both were losses, but the 3-2 scores gave the Tigers hope for a turn-around of their season.

South gained their first win of the season against North.  The 3-2 win boosted the confidence of the Tigers.

South next faced Washburn.  Hopes of a win were dashed early, as the Millers won 5-0.  Losses to Southwest and Edison followed by identical 3-2 scores.

South played in the District Tournament against Edison.  The Tigers had hoped for a win after their close loss, but the Tommies ended South’s season 5-0.

Four South players advanced to the Region 5 Tournament.  Singles players Patti Peterson and Tammy Cowan, along with the doubles team of Bridget Sullivan and Cindy Clausen represented the Tigers at regions.

The team ended with a 1-7 conference record, finished in eighth place.

Head Coach Mary Michael Connolly ended her third season as the leader of the Tiger tennis team.  During the off-season, she decided not to return as the South coach.
