The 1970-1971 Cross Country Team overcame much adversity.  Injuries to some of the top returning runners would have stopped most teams from being successful, but not this year’s team.

South opened the season with a non-conference meet against Minnehaha Academy.  The Tigers ran well, and posted a 15-50 win!

The first conference meet was against Marshall-University.  Again, the Tigers ran well and won, 16-48.

The meet against Washburn came down to the fifth finishers of each team. With South taking the fifth spot, the Tigers barely defeated the Millers 28-29.

Two easier wins came against North, 16-39, and Central, 18-48.

South was upset by Henry 25-30, but they bounced back against Edison in a close 23-33 win.

An easy win by the Tigers over Vocational, 16-47, set up the last conference dual against Roosevelt.  The Teddies dominated the Tigers 15-50.

South finished the season with two non-conference meets, both wins.  South beat River Falls 25-30, and finished with a 30-53 win over New Richland.

In the Conference Meet, the Tigers finished in a respectable fourth place.

South finished the season with a 6-2 conference record and a 9-2 overall record,
