As the 1959-60, the Tiger Cross Country team was a bit of a dark horse.  No one expected the team to be successful.  Coach John Cummings convinced the runners not to listen to the speculation.

As the meets progressed, the Tigers began shocking the established thinking.  An upset of North and wins over highly regarded West and Edison, put the Tigers on a roll.  A loss to Central, 15-49, was the only score reported.

Entering the Conference Meet, the Tigers finished the regular season in fourth place in the standings.  At the Conference Meet, the Tigers also finished fourth, behind Southwest, Roosevelt and Central. Senior Warren Raich was the best South finisher coming in at 21st place.

The Tigers finished the season at the Region 5 meet.  The team finished in eighth place.  Seniors Robert Cameron and Warren Raich finished 18th and 19th, both finishing the 1.8 mile course in under 9:35.00.
