Injuries plagued the Tigers during the 1952-1953 football season.  Although injuries are part of the game, one can only wonder what may have been if all the players were healthy for the entire season.

South opened the season against North.  The Polars had their way with the Tigers, winning 33-0.

South rebounded against Vocational and won 33-8.

West visited South for the Tigers’ homecoming.  West dominated the game and won 20-0.

South took on Edison and blanked the Tommies 20-0.  That was followed by a 13-7 win against Roosevelt.

Two very close games ended the season.  Against Henry, South managed two touchdowns but lost by an extra point 14-13.  Against Washburn, the Millers were the only team to score, winning 6-0.

South finished the season with a 3-4 record, in sixth place.  Les Barnard finished his 25th season as the Tiger Head Coach.  Walt Butterwick, Jim Lushine, B. Marconette and Al Pihlstrom filled out the coaching staff.

The future looks bright for the Tigers as the B-Squad finished the season undefeated.  They scored 105 points during the season and only allowed eight!
