In the midst of the Great Depression, students used Tiger basketball games to forget the problems caused by the economic crisis.  Coach Les Barnard and his team did their best to help entertain the fans.

The Tigers began their season against Central.  South entertained their fan to the tune of a 31-24 victory.  Unfortunately, the fans did not like the outcome of the next four games.

Washburn gave the Tigers a good beating, winning 29-19.  That followed a very close game with Roosevelt, but the Teddies won 21-18.  South played another close game against West, but West won 33-29.  Edison then took on the Tigers and the Tommies came out ahead 42-35.

South finished the season with two wins.  Both games were very close.  South beat the Polars 30-27, followed by a win over Marshall 21-18.

In the Spring, Coach Barnard decided to focus his coaching attention to football, so he gave up his position as basketball head coach.
