As a new season began, hope springs eternal.  However, to sum up the season, the 1927 South Yearbook said, “Although the South harriers went down to defeat in every meet in which they participated, nevertheless they gave plucky exhibitions, and were defeated, not because of the poor ability of the team, but because of the fact that there were so few runners on the squad.”

South faced Central and lost 81-39.  The also lost to Edison and Roosevelt.  Unfortunately, the scores of these meets were not reported.

At the State Meet, held on November 11, despite not winning a meet during the regular season, South finished second!  Roosevelt was crowned the champion.  St. Paul Central finished third.  South did place two runners in the top five.  Raymond Gray finished second and Carlton Peterson finished fourth.
