As September rolled around, the young men who play football for South were greeted with a new leader.  James Fitzgibbons took over as coach of the team.

Coach Fitzgibbons were off to a great start winning their first game in convincing style against Minneapolis Academy 50-0.  The 50 points scored was the most in school history to date.

South then played their annual game against their Alumni.  Unfortunately no score has been reported.

The team then began a downward spiral.  Against Carleton College, South was easily defeated 30-0.

The lone bright spot of the remainder of the season was a 34-6 win over East.  That would be the second and last win of the season.

South struggled to score rest of the season.  For the first time, South played Duluth High School. The northern Minnesota team won easily 40-0.

The game against St. Paul Mechanic Arts on October 26 was close, but South still fell 10-6.

South finished the season with two Minneapolis city losses.  Central defeated South first 30-6.  That was followed by a 20-5 defeat from North.

South finished the season with a 2-5 record, 1-2 in Minneapolis.
